Arella is a new character I've developed for Dungeons and Dragons. I haven't had a chance to play her yet. She's based on either the Mermaid or the merfolk Merfolk. The difference is mainly Merfolk are always aquatic while Mermaids transform to 'human' when they are dry. This is a frequent aspect of Mermaids and is featured as a plot element in the Australian TV series H20 and the movie Splash.
As is common for Mermaids (also called Sirens), she is going to be a Bard. Her D&D back story can be read here.
